On further research: immodest women cause earthquakes, gays cause hurricanes, and abortionists, pagans, and the ACLU cause terrorist attacks. I'm still not clear on who's to blame for volcanoes, though. (I suspect the Jews.)

Somehow it's always a bit reassuring to be reminded that people in other countries are just as idiotic as Americans.

Let me play DA for a minute.

Perhaps if one grew up the way Sedighi grew up, it might be reasonable to adopt the worldview he has adopted. And if one has the worldview Sedighi has, then the kind of statements he made might be reasonable.

Anyway, I don't think calling him stupid is going to help much.

It depends on what you mean by stupid. If it's "lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull" then I doubt he's stupid. If you mean "having a flawed worldview" then yes, I'd say he's stupid.
