Buddhism only 800 years old!

In case none of you are aware of this, acording to Wiki Answers, Buddhism is only 800 years old.

Buddhism is approximately 800 years old, dating back to the 6th century BC.

Now, I've never been one that was good at math, but if it was founded in the 6th century BC, wouldnt that make it 2500 years old? Where does "800" come from?....

There is no standard terminology or breakdown for the various ages of the history of philosophy. The phrase 'the age of Buddhism' may refer to the golden age of Zen Buddhism in China, which was during the Tang period (618-906).

The question may also mean how old is buddhism. In that case, Buddha was born in about 500 BCE making Buddhism some 2500 years old.

So, is 6th century BC the same same aprox. 500BCE? I ask since someone felt they needed to refine it. When I'm home and better able to research it, maybe I'll contribute again. Also, Buddhism aught to be capitalized, yes?
